Love this, Maggie. Have you read Alastair Humphrey's book The Doorstep Mile? It's about the same idea--that adventure is about attitude rather than distance.
So true. I live 10 miles from downtown San Francisco and, although I been here for over 30 years, I've yet to unearth even half its "travel treasures!"
There are SO MANY travel treasures in San Francisco. You probably already know about Musée Mécanique, but that was a fun recent discovery when I was in SF with Everest.
I love this concept of the mysteries and treasures right in front of us. I’m excited to explore your local finds—and find some of my own. Beautiful and inviting writing, Maggie. 🫶

I haven't, but I just looked it up, and it sounds exactly like something I'd love. Adding it to my list now. Thank you!

Secret San Francisco is a good reference (but, again, I haven't taken near enough advantage!). https://secretsanfrancisco.com/
I used the Atlist app to map out a 20 mile radius from my home.
Such a beautifully written article with such a great idea! I am going to do it.
Thank you! I love that you're going to do it. Can't wait to see what you find!
I wholeheartedly subscribe to this philosophy! I need to get out and do this more :)

Bravo. I am making my twenty mile circle now.
